Benefits of Aquariums at Work or Home
The connections we have to our natural world are lifelong and worldwide. Aquariums can provide windows to another world, an escape, a learning experience and so much more. Watching fish explore a well-set up aquarium can draw you in, calm you down and connect people with nature and with each other.
Our Experience is Scientifically Supported
From our own experience interacting with our clients aquariums, watching fish can be a welcome respite from a busy day. They can be a meeting place in a busy lobby, a place to turn when TV is boring and a learning tool for young and the young-at-heart! Aquariums are self-contained worlds that can give you a break and remind us all that nature is amazing!

Several recent studies have shown what many people have known all along - aquariums are good for you! Edwards, Beck and Lim., Intervention Studies Influence of Aquariums on Resident Behavior and Staff Satisfaction in Dementia Units Western Journal of Nursing Research 2014, Vol. 36(10) 1309–1322. concludes that dementia units with aquariums had lower stress levels in staff and residents compared to similar units without aquariums!

Kathleen Norman and Liam, clients since 2014 Liam is a special kid with disabilities. His fish tank is in his bedroom and provides as part of his therapies. Liam particularly likes Star Wars, so he has themed decor in and on his tank, along with the great group of active, colourful African cichlids. His light also provides great blue-spectrum lighting for use as a night-light. |
Not Just Fish!
Gone are the days of the goldfish bowl, and gone too are the boring ol' basic aquariums, with a few fish and a lot of algae. There are so many different aquatic and semi-aquatic and even terrestrial animals to consider and enjoy. We service and even have in our own homes, glass "fish" tanks that hold wonders that aren't even fish! We have aquatic frogs, terrestrial frogs, axolotls, turtles and even insects. Many of these are lush with real living plants, to the benefit of both the animals and their human caretakers
